Game Day with the Lyles'

Gameday is always a big day in the Lyles' household and Saturday was no exception. Even though John had to spend the first part of the day studying for his upcoming boards, he surprised me by making us breakfast (Greek yogurt blueberry pancakes using the blueberries we picked this summer and scrambled eggs-yum)!

After our delicious breakfast, we headed to Pepper Place Saturday Market. Since the market is pet friendly, we brought Henry along and let him wear his brand new Derrick Henry jersey. He was a hit with everyone, including a fellow furry Alabama fan. While there, we picked up some local honey from the Alabama Beekeeper's Association tent harvested by Ellis Apiaries.

That afternoon, we headed to our friend Lauren's. We always love spending time with her and Lee- so, we were so happy to be able to watch the game with them. Lauren made some tasty BBQ sliders and Lee used his deep fryer to make deep fried cheese. I brought baked beans, chocolate biscuit cookies and a super easy recipe that I had been wanting to try- spicy sausage dip.

Spicy Sausage Dip
1 (16 oz) pckg. spicy sausage
1 (15 oz) can Rotel, undrained
2 (8 oz) packages cream cheese
Hot sauce, to taste

In a large skillet, over medium-high heat, brown sausage. Drain off excess fat. Reduce the heat to medium, and mix in Rotel, cream cheese, and hot sauce. Continue to cook, stirring frequently, until the mixture is blended well. Serve warm with Ritz crackers.

It was quite the spread and quite the game. Although my blood pressure was higher than I preferred it to be for the majority of the game, I was happy with the outcome! Roll Tide Roll!
